Victor Rojas stepping down as Angels TV voice

After 11 seasons as the television voice of the Los Angeles Angels, play-by-play man Victor Rojas has decided to leave the booth.

Rojas, a former minor league pitcher who joined the Angels broadcast team in 2010, announced his intentions in a lengthy Twitter post Saturday.

He wrote, in part:

“After a number of conversations with the family, and even though I had every intention of returning in 2021, I have decided to step away from the broadcast booth in order to spend more time with the family in Texas, continue to build our apparel business, await the birth of our first grandchild and prepare for my next venture.”

Last fall, Rojas interviewed for the Angels’ vacant general manager job, which eventually went to Perry Minasian.

Before joining the Angels, Rojas worked at MLB Network for more than a year and for the Texas Rangers for five seasons, handling both play-by-play and analyst roles.

Rojas is the son of former MLB player, coach and manager Cookie Rojas.
