Sports Around the World: 8/29-9/2

Here’s this week’s update on sports around the world

AMERICAN FOOTBALL

With the successful ticket sales for the Cal-Hawaii game in Australia, it’s clear that American Football has opportunity to grow internationally. Will the NFL consider playing in Australia?

BASEBALL

Yes, we’re talking Tim Tebow in Sports Around the World because a Venezuelan team has offered him a contract.

INDYCAR

Helio Castroneves nearly lost his head as Alexander Rossi came out of the pit!

U.S. OPEN TENNIS

Serena Williams didn’t fare well at the Olympics but she is still progressing well at the U.S. Open. Venus Williams got a silver medal in Rio de Janeiro, but she is having to put up quite a fight at the U.S. Open.  We’ll see if either of the sisters get to add more to their trophy collection!

While many sports have been plagued with doping scandals, Austrailian’s Nick Kyrgios informed his Twitter followers that ATP Tour players are allowed to smoke marijuana.

PARALYMPICS

Speaking of drugs and doping…Russia has lost an appeal fighting their teams ban from the upcoming Paralympic games in Rio.  Their entire Track & Field team was banned from the Rio 2016 Olympic games that just concluded, but now their entire Paralympic team is banned.
